  Chocolate and Tan Dachshunds

Chocolate and Tan Dachshunds are a lovely brown color with tan points.  Chocolate is a recessive color.  Meaning that it must be shown or carried by both parents to produce Chocolate and Tan Dachshund puppies.  They should have chocolate nose, nails and paw pads. As well as the most beautiful hazel colored eyes, you've ever seen. There are never black hairs on Chocolate and Tan Dachshunds. No black noses, nails and paw pads, either.  If this is the case, it is often a red factored chocolate and tan. (produced by breeding a red dachshund to a chocolate and tan dachshund)  Like the other colors, Chocolate and Tan is lovely in piebald and dapple patterns.  Chocolate and Tan Brindles usually show their brindle stripings in their tan points.  Because it cannot have black hairs, it is highly unlikely to have a chocolate and tan sable.
