The Dilute Dachshund Colors
Information About
Isabella
and Tan Dachshunds
Isabella
and Tan Dachshunds are a fawn or silver colored Dachshund (very similar
to a weimaraner or greyhound) with tan points. It is a
dilution of the chocolate and tan color. So, it follows a lot
of the same rules. There are to be no black hairs on Isabella
and Tan Dachshunds. Their nose, nails and pawpads are a bluish
silver color. And, their eyes are a light hazel. It
is a recessive gene , meaning it must be shown or carried by
both parents to produce Isabella and Tan Dachshund Puppies.
Isabella and Tan Dachsunds are also known as fawn and tan. Some sources
claim they carry the name Isabella from Queen Isabella who had a love
for the color. We find that Isabella and Tan is often
confused with dilute red for some reason. If you see a
reddish tinge of color on your dachshund and a red nose, nail and paw
pad.. it's not an isabella and tan Dachshund. They are lovely
in Dapple
or Piebald.
The Brindles in this color usually show their
brindle striping in the tan points and because there are no black
hairs, it is not possible to have a sable. Here are some
examples of Ponderosa Pups

Information
About
Blue
and Tan Dachshunds
The
Blue and Tan Dachshund is a dilution of a black and tan Dachshund.
They are grey in color with tan points. They do not
have
any black on the body. Blue and Tan Dachshunds have bluish
colored nose, nails and paw pads. Blue and Tan is also a
recessive color. Meaning that both parents must either show
or
carry it to produce Blue and Tan Dachshund puppies. Blue and
Tan
dapples are often confused with Black and Tan silver dapples.
It
can be hard to distinguish between the two at an early age, but a
simple rule of thumb..if there is black then it's black! They
are lovely in Dapple
or Piebald.
The Brindles
in this color usually show their
brindle striping in the tan points and because there are no black
hairs, it is not possible to have a sable.
