by Ponderosa Pups
Thank you so much for
spending a little time with us here at Ponderosa
Pups. You have no idea how much that means to us.
This is our personal dachshund
breeder diary
of sorts..and a new way for our visitors to get
to know us.
I also hope this will
help inform you of the new pages and updates to
our site and to our breeding program.
As always, if you have
any questions don't hesitate to contact us.

I have big news for our kennel! We have added two new males to our family.
Tigre and Levi
Both
of these kids carry heavy for English and Chocolate and Cream.
They have wonderful pedigrees, too. We are already enjoying them
so much. Tigre is the biggest baby. I can't tell you how
quickly we fell in love with him! He is crazy beautiful, too.
An English Cream Brindle (longhaired, of coarse). Everyone
know's their my favorite. Then, not to leave out Levi. I
really wasn't sure if it was time to add another red longhaired male to
our family, but couldn't resist, with all he has to offer. He is
very friendly, but it is taking him a little longer to warm up to Dad.
I will share pics of them soon.

UPDATE to last post.
Today
I received an email from my vet supply company making big brags for the
first generic drug to hit the market that will replace frontline.
I am very SAD to announce that I did a little research and there
was only a difference of ONE DOLLAR in the prices of the two. I'm not impressed.
On
a personal note.. my computer monitor finally "rests in peace"!
It has been giving me fits for weeks. I really don't take
change very well.
The new one is here..and as soon as I get used
to it I will get back into the swing of things and finish the new pages
for the blog section.
Have a very happy and safe Memorial Day!

BIG NEWS for pet meds this week!
Kroger
has announced that they will now carry pet meds in their pharmacy.
So you can fill your pets' prescriptions at Kroger, too!
AND.. they will have a lot of them on the $4 prescription plan!
I
don't know if you have already heard this or not, but long term flea
and tick top on treatments hit OVER THE COUNTER this past week.
For the longest time, Frontline, Advantix, etc. held a patent on
these and you had to buy them at your vets office for great big prices.
Now, the prices have dropped like crazy and we can purchase
really good flea and tick meds at local stores like Wal-Mart and
Tractor Supply. Just watch you instructions, folks.

I
can't believe how long it's been since I wrote. Needless to say,
things are always really busy in the spring for all of us. On a
personal note, I am working to change some of the pages on the site.
Adjusting and adding information. It's a never ending
project. Just when I think I have a page finished, I think of ten
different things to change or add. The truth be told, I really
enjoy it. Our breeding program took some major adjustments, too.
We have the pleasure of adding two new wirehaired dachshunds
to our family these past few weeks. I know that wires are not for
everybody, but we just love them. They are so sweet and funny.
We have a new cream wire girl that is named Buttons. Very
sweet..and a pedigree that almost made me fall out of my chair..lol!
Of coarse, it is our new blue and tan wirehaired male that will
forever hold my heart. I've named him Tripp.. for two reasons.
His ears are so long that he almost trips over them! AND.. he is
such a trip to look at! This was my first opportunity to see a
blue and tan dapple wirehaired dachshund. The breeders in
Louisiana do things with the dilute color that you won't find anywhere
else. They really take chances that most of us would never think
of. I think it's cool.
Anyway, I know we don't have very many puppies posted at the moment, but believe me..it's going to be a great summer!
Our nursery (a.k.a. living room..lol) is full of adorable little babies. I can't wait to show them off this summer.

Today
was a big day at our home. We had company from West
Virginia...twice! Jacqui came in this morning to get her
cream
smooth that she has named Piper. Wonderful person.. we really
got
to know each other while she was waiting to make her trip. I was almost
as excited as she was. Then this evening, Samantha and her
friend
came down to get their puppy. SWEET doesn't even describe
them..
they were so much fun. Their friend Abbie bought a puppy from
us
last year.. I am so fortunate to have such wonderful customers.
It was also PICTURE
day. I finally got new pics taken for the site.. can't wait
for everyone to see them.
I know I say this all
the time..but, these are some of the best puppies, ever! lol
I'm so proud of them.
AND..the biggest news
of our big day.. we had two litters of adorable puppies!!
Just awesome.. blue and
tan dapples in one litter and.. red, black and tan, chocolate and tan
in another.
All
smooth coat.. I think they are so cute. Having puppies is a
very
exciting..and tiring adventure. Especially when you have two
litters on the same day. I'm so tired I can't think..lol

SPRING!
I love spring! It has been a brutal and long winter
and I
am so happy it's over. Of coarse, I don't know about you all,
but
Spring is such a busy time here. So many things to get done.
Probably because we have all been stuck in the house all
winter
and would use any excuse to get some sunshine. Right?
It's
an awesome time to get out and get our places cleaned up and ready for
summer. Projects.. gotta love projects! Ha! I hope you all are enjoying
it, too!

Just
finished the new page on Cream Dachshunds. It was a
little harder than some of my other pages. A little harder to
research, anyway. I contacted several cream dachshund
breeders
from England..and got no response. I was wondering if they
would know a little more background or history on the Cream Dachshund
that we so lovingly call the English Cream. Oh, well.. I did
the
best I could. It's a constant
reminder to why people don't feel comfortable contacting most Dachshund
Breeders. You can't believe how hard I try to make this site
a comfortable place to visit. I really received an email this
week from a very nice lady that said "Your website made me feel so at
home". It gave me a lump in my throat.. it meant that much to
me. I am and always will be a country girl that wants to make everyone
feel at home. You know the type.."would you like a cup of
coffee?" "Have you eat yet?" LOL It's funny..cause
it's
true.
Here is the link for
our new page
Cream
Dachshunds
Hope you all have a
great weekend!
