We have fallen in love with the Black and Cream Dachshund.

Black and Cream Dachshunds are heavenly.  I really just fall to pieces every time I spend time with one of mine.  I can't imagine having lived life with the experience of owning a black and cream dachshund!  I know that may sound corny, but they take my breath away.  I think they are so pretty.  You see, I have always been a huge fan of black and tan longhaired Doxies! (as anyone who knows me can verify, I have two that sleep in my bed every night)  And, I have to admit that I was very skeptical of anything being so special about a black and cream just because his tan points were lighter..lol  That is..until I saw one in person for the first time! You see, English Cream Dachshunds are from heavily imported, heavily championed bloodlines.  So, to say that English Creams are very well bred.. is an understatement! Their body and head structure is as close to perfect as they come.  Their coats are long and flowing.  They have an heir about them.  They are special and they know it.   There is no doubt that they are very flashy! The contrast of color in the Black and the Pale Cream is awe inspiring.  They are eye catching and really stand out in a crowd.  But, even more than the appearance, the personality of the Black and Cream Dachshund is unbelievably sweet and adoring.  I just can't emphasize that point enough.  There is NOTHING sweeter than the personality of the English Cream Dachshund.  Just like their English Cream brothers, the Black and Cream Doxies are silky, soft and generally have longer flowing coats than the American Dachshund.  As Dachshund Breeders,  Ponderosa Pups occasionally has Black and Cream Dachshunds for sale.

Denali is an exceptional Miniature Black and Cream Dachshund.  His father is an English Chocolate and Cream.  We expect very exciting things from Denali here at Ponderosa Pups! 

2010 Update- Denali is turning into quite the father around here.  He has already sired two litters and we are very happy about how they turned out.  On a personal note, I don't know if I have ever seen a more beautiful doxie.  He is so sweet and funny.  I think he has a real sense of humor.  I can't imagine our family before Denali.  We are so lucky to have him.  I just know that our customers are going to enjoy their black and cream dachshund puppies, too.  You just can't stop staring at them..they are so pretty!

He is so playful.  He probably has more spirit than Ty and that's really saying something.  
 

This is Kelbie.  It's NOT a good picture of him, but he is so crazy in love with me that there is no way that he's going to sit still for a picture very long.  Kelbie is an amazing Black and Cream Brindle Dachshund with a pedigree to knock your socks off.  Brindles in this color are very rare.  They only show their brindle striping in their cream points and can produce the most amazing English cream brindle dachshund puppies you're ever going to see.  One of Kelbie's sons is Tybee, a beautiful English Cream Dachshund that is a hidden brindle.  Meaning that he shows no signs of brindle striping, yet produces brindle puppies.  Kelbie is a fine example of a dog that produces even better puppies than you ever thought possible.

 *Let's talk Dachshund Genetics for a minute* Black and Cream is a variety of the English Cream Dachshund. They are two colored Doxies that are black in body or base color with pale cream colored points. The chinchilla gene that is responsible for all English Creams can only attach itself to shades of red.  So just think of the tan "points' as a shade of red.  That is genetically what makes the black and creams and chocolate and cream dachshunds possible. This is a recessive gene. Meaning that both parents must carry for black and cream to produce it.  To be more precise, I believe that one of the parents must actually be a Black and Cream Dachshund and the other must carry the gene to produce puppies of that color. But, there are exceptions to all Doxie rules.  From a breeders point of view, I tend to favor the black and cream dachshund being bred to the English Cream Dachshund.  Long ago, I learned that red doxies should not be bred to red doxies over and over through  generations.  That it would muddy the color.  That's really one of the prime reasons that there are a dozen different shades of red.  Well, I really believe that this rule should be carried over the cream breedings as well.  Cream bred to cream, bred to cream for so many years can't be a good thing.  With all of our other doxies, we breed in the black color when we want to strengthen the color gene of the puppies.  The same has to be said for the cream gene.  By breeding in Black and Cream Dachshunds, you will better the breed in the long run.
