Pet
Grief
Coping
with the loss of a Dachshund
If you own and love dogs,
you will eventually know the pain of pet grief. There is no
way around it. Unless you don't own dogs.. and there is NO
WAY a dog lover can live without a dog. I am writing
this article to help you cope with the loss of your Dachshund.
I am not a professional writer or a therapist. All
I can do is talk to you about how I feel, and the experiences I have
had with other people that are in your shoes.
You have a right to
mourn! You are not alone!
I have been an animal lover since birth.
I have loved and
lost, too. Still, in all the time I have been preparing this
page, I do not know the words to make you feel better.
As a matter of fact, I can't make you feel better, but I will
tell you this. Don't be
ashamed that you are in pain. I can't tell you how many
people have
said, "forgive me, I know it's just a dog, but I can't help myself".
Let me ask you this, who else do you spend more time with?
Besides,
your immediate family and your dog? Probably no one!
Your dog is your friend, your family member and your baby.
I would be upset with you if you didn't take it poorly.
Don't be embarrassed. I've seen three hundred pound
grown men break down and sob. None of us are immune to the
pain over the loss of a Dachshund.
Unfortunately, as a
Dachshund Breeder, I have had many phone calls about pet loss through
the years. From people who have just lost their pet.
It makes me profoundly sad. Heck, it breaks my
heart even sitting here trying to talk to you about it now.
I've sat and listened to more crying, heart broken people
than I like to admit. It's touched me..It's a part of me.
When these people call me, they want two things.
They want to share their pain with me, because they know I
will understand. And, they want me to tell them that's it's
okay to want another Dachshund. It is, you know?
There is no shame in wanting another dog. You are a
dog lover that loves to spend time with a dog. No matter how
much it hurts to loose them, they make you so happy while they are
here. I think that was God's plan. To send us
comfort and happiness, then teach us about loss.
If you need someone to talk to, there are support
groups across the internet. If you just need to share your
story with someone, I'm
an excellent listener.!

I am so sorry for your loss
God Bless,
